Slumdog Millionaire

This is: For those who have watched it and have heard about it.

Slums are born in gutter and they deserve to be there in the gutter till death. This is what I thought when I saw ‘Salim’ (character from the movie). But that was also the moment when I forgot that , ‘the other world’ in which they live in was created by people like us. The ones who live in that world have nothing to give us other than a mocking laugh and scars. Slumdog is what we all will become once we have crossed all the limits of tolerating hunger, pain and torture.
Slumdog Millionaire is a movie which depicts something which we all know but would notice only until a foreigner makes a movie on it and until it gets 10 oscar nominations. No wonder it has got a high rating .People who have given the rating are those who wudnt hesitate to kick a slum beggar pestering them at the traffic signal and are those who wudnt give it a thought suspecting their servants at home,incase of losing their valuables.

I personally did not find in it,anything that would have an impact on me or anything that would change my attitude towards slums. I still think even the cutest and most innocent of the slumkids will all grow up to be salims.

One of my friends told me that you will appreciate the movie, if only you watch it with the mindset of a foreigner. I don’t think even that would make an impact on me;coz I see that not only foreigners but even today most of us are obsessed with the painful stories and happy endings. Even today most of them enjoy sympathizing and watching the misfortunes of others even after knowing the fact that they are the ones who are causing it.

Characters of the movie:

I didn’t understand why Anil Kapoor was given those extra dialogues apart from the quiz questions that he had to ask.(It wasn’t funny at all..neither was it sarcastic)

Latika- There have been many latikas and will always be.

Jamal (our slumdog hero)- Keep aside the slum world, there had never been any jamal in the world we live in and will never be.

Things I liked:

Music,songs,actors(specially the kiddo actors).


Donno in what way the slums in real will be awarded with the advent of this movie but these slums in reel are sure going to make millions out of them.

I saw a lady flashing the national flag on her shirt today and that’s when I remembered that the holiday was for Republic Day. So, happy republic day. What..Sorry what did u say we are celebrating this for?
